Today was the last day of school, and we had our kindergarten promotion. It was one of those bittersweet days that fills you with pride and tugs at your heart at the same time. I am so proud of all my students. They are now officially 1st graders! I’m also going to miss them so much. This was a really good class, and I grew close to them over the year.
During the ceremony, after we introduced all our students, the principal gave her closing remarks and told the kids to thank their teachers for everything we did to help them grow. My class didn’t just say thank you — they got out of their seats and came over to give me hugs. I’m not a crier, but that moment got me. I told each of them they can always come back to my class to say hi and get a hug anytime.
Some of my students came in really struggling — academically, personally, or both — and every single one of them grew. They put in the work and learned so much this year. I know they’re going to do amazing things, not just in first grade, but in their lives. They’re the kind of people who are going to make the world better.
🌱 A Little Reflection
As everything wrapped up today, I kept thinking about how much growth happens in a year — not just for the kids, but for me too. Teaching always reminds me that every season has its own kind of learning. Watching them walk across that stage felt like seeing a garden I’ve tended all year finally bloom. And just like I tell them, the growing doesn’t stop here. We carry it with us into new grades, new adventures, new states (hello, Alabama), and into the creative things that keep us inspired.

🎥 About My First Video
I know I’ve been promising my first video, and I am going to do it. I’m just really nervous about putting myself out there. But I’m excited too! The only color suggestion I got was ocean blue, so that’s what I’m going with. I’m thinking about making a bloom coaster set in that color.
Now I need your help choosing what comes next.

💡 What Should I Make in My Second Video?
Here are a few ideas:
- Dragon notebooks – I can show the steps I use to make the ones I sell.
- A resin tray using a temporary tattoo or sticker – a fun and easy project.
- Fairy garden pieces – I’m already making items for the fairy garden I’ll have when we move to Alabama next year.
Put your vote in for what I should make in my second video. My first video will be posted on YouTube soon, and I’ll share the link on my social media pages and here on the blog.
